1000 Books before Kindergarten

The Yale Public Library is excited to present 1,000 Books before Kindergarten. This has been made possible by a generous grant from our local Cushing Walmart and the Walmart Giving Grant program.

1,000 Books before Kindergarten is as simple as it sounds.

Make a goal to read 1,000 books to your child before Kindergarten. The program is a fun, free way to start your child on the path to a lifelong love of reading as well as help develop language skills and imagination. 1,000 books may seem like a lot, but if you read one book each night, you’ll reach your goal in less than 3 years.

How to Get Started

Stop by the library to register and pick up a book bag, book and reading log to start your first 100 books with your child. Every book counts!
